GRIEF RESOURCES

Jim Schooler wants to say thank you to the many loyal supporters. We would not have achieved the level of success we have without your friendship and support. We pledge to continue our efforts to provide quality services for those we are so privileged to serve.

As a part of this pledge, we are pleased to introduce a new program designed to continue the care of our families beyond the funeral.

We know that grief does not subside after the funeral. In fact, it's sometimes harder. Experts report that grief often hits hardest four to six months after the funeral. That's a void Schooler Funeral Home wants to help fill. The new Continuing Care program carries Schooler's superior service and care beyond the funeral into the difficult days and months that follow the death of a loved one.

The program is more than following-up with families to see how they're doing. It offers resources and services to help them understand grief and deal with the loss.

Grief recovery materials that are available to families include:

  • A series of Care letters, which are sent by the funeral home for one year to families and friends. The complimentary Care letters are filled with articles written by grief and recovery professionals, poems, thoughts, tips on coping with grief, and information to help children deal with grief.
  • Information describing the emotions and physical changes experienced by the bereaved.
  • A Resource List for Dealing with Grief that lists local and national support groups and a bibliography of literature addressing a wide variety of specific types of losses such as spouse, parent, grandparent, child and suicide.
  • A library of various grief books which can be checked out at the funeral home.
  • Grief-specific brochures.
  • Information on helping children cope with death.

The Care letters and other grief recovery materials are a family focused source of healing, encouragement and understanding. We are here even after the funeral to help facilitate healing.

The Continuing care program is not the same as professional grief therapy. Rather, it's acknowledgment the grief a survivor is experiencing, spending time listening and guiding mourners toward community resources.

The cottage is behind the main building of Schooler Funeral Home. You are invited to stop by and get acquainted. If you would like more information about any of Schooler's new extended care services, please feel free to give them a call at 806-352-2727 .

Schooler Funeral Home directors are trained to provide five star quality service and funeral care. Their main product is compassion, care, and commitment.

Schooler Funeral Home encourages families to compare prices, facilities and service. Their beautiful facilities and detailed services are the finest in the Texas Panhandle. Very different from the average funeral home, Schooler offers unique, full service in a warm, inviting and non-threatening atmosphere.

We try to always provide a warm, safe, home-like environment.

Not only is Schooler a wonderful home with an outstanding staff, but also a more affordable home. The amount spent on funeral service bears no relationship to the love and respect you have for the deceased person. What one remembers about the funeral or memorial service should not be the cost.

Schooler Funeral Home is not associated with Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors Inc., owned by Service Corporation International of Houston.
