Betty Ruth Jackson

Betty Ruth Jackson, 89, of Amarillo, died peacefully on November 29, 2017.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 5, 2017 at IOOF Cemetery in Denton, Texas with the Rev. Harvey Osmond officiating. A visitation will follow at 3:00 p.m., at St. Luke United Methodist Church, 3200 Denton Highway, Fort Worth, TX 76117. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia, Amarillo.

Betty Ruth was born July 15, 1928 in Denton to Alonzo and Ophelia Davis. Betty graduated from Denton High School. She attended TWU in Denton where she earned a Bachelor’s Degree.

She married Robert E. Jackson Jr. on March 25, 1948. They spent 63 wonderful years together.

Betty Ruth was a member of St. Luke United Methodist Church in Haltom City since 1952. She was a charter member of Diamond Oaks Country Club and was a past president of Diamond Oaks Ladies Golf Association. She was also a past president of the Shady Oaks Ladies Golf Association and a lifetime member of Roadrunners Square Dance Club.

Betty Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Robert E. Jackson, Jr.

She is survived by her daughter, Linda Ruth Jackson of Santa Fe, N.M.; son, Robert Earl Jackson, III, M.D. and his wife Judith of Amarillo; sister, Joyce Bishop of Lubbock; granddaughter, Amanda Kay Boyle and husband Jon of Charlotte, N.C. and one great-grandchild, Logan Jackson Boyle of Charlotte, N.C.

The family suggests memorials be made to St. Luke United Methodist Church, 3200 Denton Highway, Fort Worth, TX 76117.
