Clark Stewart Armstrong

February 19, 1957 — July 5, 2017

Clark Stewart Armstrong, 60, of Las Vegas, Nevada, formerly of Amarillo, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, July 5, 2017.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00pm on Sunday, July 9th at The Arena of Life Church (Cowboy Church), 8827 S. FM 1541, Amarillo, with Pastor Jon Petty officiating.  Pastor Petty will be assisted by Nicholas Clark Belcher, nephew of Mr. Armstrong. A visitation will be 6-7:00 p.m., Thursday, July 13, 2017 at Schooler Funeral Home.  Graveside services will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, July 14, 2017 at Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St., Amarillo.

Mr. Armstrong was born to Melvin and Evelyn Armstrong on February 19, 1957 in Wellington, Kansas.  He and his family moved to Amarillo in 1960 and for many years attended San Jacinto Church of Christ.  He was baptized at Black Mesa Bible Camp in 1969.  He was a member of The Cowboy Church in Amarillo until he moved to Las Vegas in 2012.  Mr. Armstrong was a believer, a patriot, an honest and loyal employee, and a friend to so many.

In 2010, Mr. Armstrong met a beautiful woman, Kathleen Tripp, who became his wife in 2012.  She was absolutely the love of his life.  He not only adored her, but also her children, and was a much loved “Poppa Clark” to her grandchildren.

In his heart of hearts, Mr. Armstrong was a cowboy.  He had a stable of stick horses from the time he was just a toddler.  When he grew up he loved to team rope, calf sort, and more recently, ride the trails on Mount Charleston--just outside of Las Vegas.

Mr. Armstrong leaves behind many friends and family who will always remember him as a loyal friend who would (and did on many occasions) literally give you the shirt off his back.  His two sisters completely adored their brother and knew that he would always protect them.  They are going to miss his wit and infectious laugh, but also his bottomless reservoir of kindness and concern for them.

Mr. Armstrong was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Kathleen, two step-daughters, Megan Hazelrigg and Katie Barr, and a step-son Zack Barr, all of Amarillo, three grandchildren, Braxton, Paisley, and Cooper; two sisters, Beckie Belcher and husband Larry of Keller and Lisa Bentley and husband Donnie of Amarillo and six nephews, Ben, Jon, Dan, and Nic Belcher and Justin and Jarrod Bentley.  In addition, Mr. Armstrong is survived by his dear friend of more than 40 years, Beau Peters.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to: Toronto Cowboy Church, PO Box 125, Toronto, KS  66777.
