Daniel Henry Raffkind

January 19, 1928 — August 2, 2017

Daniel Henry Raffkind, 89, of Amarillo, passed away on Wednesday, August 2, 2017.

Graveside Services will be at 4:30 p.m. Friday, August 4, 2017 at Llano Cemetery with Gabbi Larry Dov Batchlear officiating.  Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia.

Daniel was born on January 19, 1928 in Amarillo to Eli and Sarah Shaw Raffkind.  He attended Amarillo High School and then went on to graduate with a business degree from the University of Texas.  Daniel also honorably served our country through the military.  He married Myrna Lynn Gimp in 1966 in San Antonio.

Daniel was also instrumental with his brother Morris in continuing the legacy of Raffkind's Clothiers. His other ventures included Raffkind Realty and other investment endeavors.

Daniel was a quiet, genuine, and kind man but never short on a smile or big laugh.  His generosity and selfless acts, which paired seamlessly with his wife Myrna’s endless philanthropy, will be cherished and truly missed throughout the community.  When we remember Daniel, we smile, and that is all he really would have wanted.

He was preceded in death by his wife Myrna, in January of 2017; one son, Benjamin Gimp Raffkind in 1998; his parents; one sister, Reba Viner; and three brothers, Sid, Tubbs, and Morris Raffkind.

Daniel is survived by his children, Heidi van Zanten of North Carolina, Adam Raffkind of Alberta, Canada, and Sara Raffkind of Amarillo; his sister, Isabel Sanditen of Tulsa, Oklahoma; and his eleven grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in honor of Daniel to a charity of your choice.
