She married Carl in 1944 and moved to Lubbock, TX for two years before moving to Amarillo. Over 6 years, the couple welcomed 3 daughters into their home. and Donis set about teaching them (skill/trade). Her daughters remember her as a kind, gentle mother who encouraged them to pursue their goals.
Donis was an accomplished wife, mother, and grandmother, and she dedicated her life to impacting and enriching the lives of others as a teacher. Most of all, her passions revolved around her family. Donis always found a reason to bring the entire family together. She would light up with joy when seeing her children and grandchildren, and her love and pride poured out when she spoke of them.
In addition to her family, Donis adored her friends and was equally admired by them. Donis loved to travel with her husband, Carl, or friends. During her lifetime, she was able to visit all 50 states and see the world. At home, she was a creative seamstress who loved making quilts. In addition, she also loved to spend time playing cards or dominoes with friends and family. Donis was never one to pass up a game of Farkle or Phase 10.
In her final days, she played her last hand bringing her entire family to her side to see her through to God’s Kingdom. Once again, Donis, you’ve won.
