Keith Roger Williams

September 10, 1951 — May 19, 2017

K. Roger Williams, 65, passed away on May 19, 2017 in Dallas.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, May 26, 2017 at First Baptist Church of Amarillo with Dr. Howie Batson, senior pastor officiating.  Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia.

Roger was born September 10, 1951 to L. Keith and Bonnie Williams. He grew up in Kansas City, Missouri and was a life long supporter of BYU from which he earned both a bachelor's and master's degree.  He had three children from a previous marriage - Stewart, Marissa, and Marshall.  On December 26, 2003, he married Ana Estevez with whom he had two children-Nikki and Alexis.

Roger moved to Amarillo as one of the first employees to open the new Bell Helicopter Facility designed to assemble the V-22 Osprey.  Through his work and tireless community outreach, he soon became the face of Bell Helicopter in Amarillo until his retirement.

Throughout his life, Roger possessed a strong sensibility to fairness and justice exhibiting deep compassion for those who were suffering.  He always made time to serve on community and non-profit boards including co-chairing the United Way Campaign in 2008.  In addition to his work for local organizations, he often chose to discreetly serve those in need seeing his reward in heaven rather than on earth.

After retirement, he volunteered to drive local refugees to ESL classes at First Baptist Church every Thursday. He developed a strong passion for the needy in Haiti and devoted significant time, effort, and resources to improve the lives of those in that country.

Roger remained a scholar long after leaving college.  He was a prolific reader and an expert in a wide range of subjects.   His love of learning was complemented by his love of travel and of life.  Roger loved the Lord and truly experienced the forgiveness and grace that can only be found through The Lord Jesus Christ.

Along with his faith, Roger loved nothing more than his family and was an adoring and doting father and grandfather.  Those who knew him will miss his sharp wit, his deep voice, his magnificent smile, and his generous soul. His motto even through his six month hospitalization came from  one who he admired most of all -Winston Churchill.  -"Never, never, never give up."

He was preceded in death by his father, L. Keith Williams; and brothers-in-law, Douglas M. Beck and Ray A. Harrison.

Roger is survived by his wife Ana Estevez of Amarillo; three daughters, Alexis and Nikki, both of Amarillo and Marissa Rine of Justin; two sons, Marshall Williams and wife Kellee of Fort Worth, and Stewart Williams and wife Shalamar of Euless; his mother, Bonnie Williams of Heber City, UT; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Dr. Roberto and Elizabeth Estevez of Amarillo; three sisters, Marie Cella and husband Bob of Layton, UT, Sandy Beck of Salt Lake City, UT, and Andrea Roney and husband Burke of Heber City, UT; three brothers, Dr. Stephen Williams and wife Ellen of Liberty, WA, Scott Williams and wife Dhreen of Layton, UT, and Sherman Williams and wife, Susan of Summerfield, NC.; and four grandchildren, Bailee, Ethan, Kai and Landree.
