Lester R. Shaver

Lester Robinson Shaver, 95, of Amarillo, passed away on Saturday, January 13, 2018.

A visitation will be held from 6:00-7:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at Schooler Funeral Home Brentwood Chapel. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, January 18, 2018 at First Assembly of God Church, 6101 Bell St. Interment will follow at Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St.

Lester was born August 3, 1922 in North Little Rock, Arkansas to Joseph Lester Shaver and Daisy Robinson Shaver. He married Velma Taylor on November 25, 1950. Lester enjoyed working and actively worked until November 11, 2017. Lester began his career in the road construction industry in 1945 with Austin Bridge Company and also worked for Gilvin-Terrill. He worked for J. Lee Milligan for the last 25 years. Lester was a member of First Assembly of God in Amarillo.

Lester was preceded in death by his wife; parents; brother, Pat Shaver, and sister, Daisy Ruth Desdier.

He is survived by five nieces; Toni Chapman of Amarillo, Julie Bogard of Estancia, NM, Amy Whitley and husband Ryan of Amarillo, Norma Cline and husband Ken of Langley, WA, Shelly Leitz and Andy of Ketchikan, AK; four nephews, Ty McCoy and wife Connie of Pampa, TX, Ryan McCoy and wife Julie of Miami, TX; Greg McCoy and wife Ashley of Amarillo and Mark Desdier and wife Toni of Anacondis, WA.
