Lola Bea Howard Russell Wooten

Lola Bea Howard Russell Wooten, 90, of Amarillo died Sunday, April 30, 2017.

A rosary will be said at 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at Schooler Funeral Home, Brentwood Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, May 4, 2017 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with Msgr. Joe Bixenman as celebrant. Interment will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia.

Lola was born in Garita, New Mexico, the fifth of five children to Lena Ethel Howard and Bandy Bedford Howard, moving to San Jon, New Mexico at the age of three with the Howard family. After graduating from San Jon High School, she moved to Amarillo and married the love of her life, James Royce Russell from Turkey. Together they raised their two beloved daughters. Lola worked and retired from the VA Hospital.

She has been a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church more than 50 years. She loved the church, often attending daily mass and recommends the church to everyone, knowing it to be the fullness of the truth, the one and only church Jesus established forever. I Timothy 3:15. St. Matthew 16-18. She has been a member of the Legion of Mary, St. Veronica’s Circle of St. Joseph’s Altar Society, Eucharistic Minister, and St. Luke’s Ministry of St. Joseph’s Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Cal; three sisters, Opal, Pearl and Bulah; and by her first husband of 46 years, James Royce Russell, and her second husband, Morris Wooten.

Lola is survived by her two daughters, Rose Mary Wall and husband Tracy, and Angela Simon; four grandsons, Chris and wife Angie, Drew and wife Nikki, Matt and wife Rashawn, and James Wall; two granddaughters, Heather and husband Paul, and Stephanie and husband Brandon; great granddaughters, Hadley, Kaitlyn, and Penelope; great grandsons, Dresden and Kohlton; and many dear nieces and nephews.
