Mary Jane "Mud" (Kriegshauser) Cairns

Mary Jane “Mud” Cairns, 65, of Amarillo, passed away on Tuesday, March 21, 2017 with her husband, two labs and one cat at her bedside.

A memorial service is scheduled for 2:00PM, Friday, March 24, 2017 at First Presbyterian Church, 1100 S. Harrison, with Rev. Paul Fredericksen officiating.  A private burial will be held in Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia.

Mud was born, Mary Jane Kriegshauser on January 13, 1952 in Hereford, to Harold George and Emma Magdalene (Albracht) Kriegshauser.  She graduated from Hereford High School and attended West Texas State University where she was a member of Chi Omega Sorority. Mud and her husband, Boyce, co-owned The Cairns Company from 1979 until the time of her passing.  She was a member of First Presbyterian Church with her husband Boyce.  Mud was involved in several community organizations including the Amarillo Junior League.  She was a loving wife and “mom” to ten Labrador Retrievers, one Cataholi Leopard dog, five cats and one parrot.

Mud was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Emma “Emmalene”; two brothers, Gary Kriegshauser and Randy Kriegshauser; 12 “kids”, Soda, Booker VII, Lady, Sooner Bird, Boomer, Sister, Cowboy, Jet, Mickey, Brindy, Tommy, Phanny Mae I, Phanny Mae II, and Big Mack.

She is survived by her husband Boyce, of the home; her “kids” Sooner, Sister II and Kat of the home; two brothers, Ben Kriegshauser and wife Vickie, John Kriegshauser and wife Judy, all of Hereford; two sisters, Dede Walsh and husband Dick of Lubbock, and Judy Cloud and husband Johnny of Hereford; three sister-in-laws, Betty Kriegshauser, Lynn Kriegshauser, both of Hereford, and Julie Albracht of Amarillo; one brother-in-law, Steve Cairns and wife Paula of Boerne; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

The family suggests memorials be made to the Amarillo Animal Shelter or the charity of your choice.
