Viola (Serpan) Jennings

June 27, 1922 — June 5, 2017

Viola Jennings, 94, of Amarillo died Monday, June 5, 2017.

Funeral Services will be 2:00 pm, Thursday, June 8, 2017 at Schooler Funeral Home, Brentwood Chapel with Craig Albracht as officiant.  Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.  Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia.

Viola was born June 27, 1922 in Timken, KS to Otto Joseph and Rose Serpan.  She graduated from LaCrosse High School in LaCrosse, KS.  She married John Lee Jennings in Wichita, KS in 1942.  After John served in WWII, they moved to Canadian.  Then they lived in various places before settling in Amarillo in 1954.  She was a member of Hamlet Baptist Church for years and served as a Girl Scout and a Cub Scout Leader.  She was a great mom and homemaker and a second mom to many.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John Lee Jennings; two grandchildren, Raven Tess Elizabeth Kipker and Pamela Gail Pendley; three brothers; and two sisters.

Viola is survived by her daughters, Lavina Pendley of Amarillo, Rosalie Arnold and husband, Steven of Austin, Norma Parsons of Amarillo, and Joann Smart and husband, Chuck of Amarillo; her son, John Jennings and wife, Barbara of Bedford; eleven grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Family suggest memorials be made to American Cancer Society or American Heart Association.
