Adaline
Busby
Jul 8, 1932 — Sep 14, 2026
Amarillo, Texas
Adaline Busby, 94, of Amarillo, passed peacefully on the evening of September 14, 2026.
Viewing hours will take place from 10AM to 5PM at Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia, on Monday, September 21,2026. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, at 10 AM at Llano Cemetery East, Field of Valor.
Adaline was born on July 8, 1932, in Miller, South Dakota to Stuart and Marie (McGeary) Rudd. Adaline received her teaching certificate from Northern State Teacher’s College in Aberdeen, SD and taught in rural schools before marrying and becoming the most incredible home maker, wife, and mother.
Adaline met a charming young man by the name of Carol Ray Busby and the two exchanged vows on August 30, 1954, at St. Ann’s Rectory in Miller, SD. Together they shared almost 5 decades of marriage, raising their children Steve, Greg, Kevin, and Paula.
Adaline loved spending time with her family and travelling with Carol in towing along their camping trailer. They created many wonderful memories together. Adaline adored her daughter Paula. Facing the difficulty of having a child who was deaf, she refused to not be able to communicate with her and learned sign language so that she and Paula would always be able to speak to each other.
Adaline is preceded in death by her parents, her beloved Carol who passed in 2001, her sons, Steve, Greg, and Kevin, her grandson, JR, siblings, Robert Rudd, Norvin Rudd, Mary Ellen Porter, Edward Rudd, and Donald Rudd. Those left to cherish her memories are her precious daughter, Paula Busby, granddaughters, Barbara Breeze and Cathy Larson, her great-grandchildren; and her vast extended family and cherished friends.
The family wishes to thank the staff of BSA Hospice Care of the Southwest for their wonderful care of Adaline.
