Obituary

Chief Master Sergeant Arthur Raymond Green (Ret.), 79, of Amarillo, Texas, passed away peacefully at his home on the morning of October 30, 2026.

In accordance with Arthur’s wishes, no services will be held.

Arthur was born on December 20, 1946, in Brownsville, Texas, to Arthur Jepsen and Jesse Green. A lifelong learner with an exceptional intellect, Arthur earned two master’s degrees and dedicated much of his life to serving others.

He proudly served 22 years in the United States Air Force, achieving the distinguished rank of Chief Master Sergeant, an accomplishment that held great meaning for him.

On April 12, 1968, Arthur married the love of his life, Marcia Smith. Together, they built a family that would remain his greatest source of pride and happiness.

Following his military retirement, Arthur continued his commitment to service through education. He served as Vice Principal at Sanford-Fritch ISD, later taught at Cal Farley’s Boys Ranch, and concluded his career at Richard Milburn Academy in Amarillo.

Arthur found joy in life’s simple pleasures, especially fishing at the family lake house in Logan, New Mexico. He could spend hours on the water, patiently waiting for the next big catch. Yet nothing brought him greater happiness than time spent with his family.

Known affectionately as “Papa,” Arthur held a special place in his heart for his grandchildren. He treasured every moment with them, capturing countless memories in photographs on his phone. His love for his family was unmistakable, and they never had to wonder how much they meant to him.

Arthur was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Marcia Green; his sons, David Green and wife Yelena, and Dan Green; his daughter, Jennifer Carney and husband Adam; six cherished grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and many extended family members and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in honor of Chief Master Sergeant Arthur R. Green (Ret.) to a veterans’ charity or organization of your choice.
