Obituary

Arturo was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Maricella Villa.

Arturo Moreno Flores was born on October 30, 1954, in Camargo, Chihuahua, Mexico. At the age of 17, he came to the United States, eventually making his way from Arkansas to Amarillo, Texas. It was there that he met the beautiful Grace Deleon, the woman who would become the love of his life. Arturo spoke no English, and Grace spoke no Spanish, but language could not stand in the way of their love. They captured one another’s hearts and were married just three months later, on October 28, 1978, in Amarillo. Their love and devotion to one another remained strong throughout the years.

Arturo devoted more than 40 years to the roofing industry in Amarillo. He began his career with Blake Brothers Roofing before joining Hartman Roofing, where he worked for 25 years before retiring in 2024. Through his many years of hard work, Arturo earned the respect of those around him and took great pride in providing for his family. Outside of work, Arturo enjoyed being outdoors and spending time fishing at area lakes. He and Grace were faithful members of New Life Church, where they were deeply involved in their church family and dedicated to serving others. Arturo truly had a servant’s heart. He loved ministering to people, helping wherever he was needed, and making others feel cared for and supported.

And then there was Arturo’s hot sauce.

He became well known for the various hot sauces he made and generously shared with members of the congregation. His sauces were just one of the many ways Arturo shared a little piece of himself with the people he loved. For Arturo, love was often expressed through food. Cooking was his love language. He enjoyed preparing menudo, tacos de papas, fish soup, and, of course, his famous hot sauces. He understood something special about sharing a meal: food has a way of bringing people together, creating memories, starting conversations, and making people feel at home. More than anything, Arturo had an enormous heart for his family.

He was a devoted brother, husband, father, and grandfather, and he was someone his family knew they could always count on. When someone was in need, Arturo stepped up without hesitation. He wanted the people he loved to know they were never alone and that he would always be there to offer his support, encouragement, and love. Arturo was the glue that held his family together. He gave generously of his time, his talents, his faith, and his heart. He lived a life defined by hard work, devotion, service, and love. His legacy will live on not only through the memories his family holds dear, but also through the countless lives he touched along the way.

Arturo was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Maricella Villa.

He leaves behind his beloved wife, Grace, his partner in life for nearly 48 years. He is also survived by his daughter, Monic Trujillo and her husband, Lorenzo; his son, Arturo Flores Jr., and his wife, Tricia; his three sisters, Sylvia Calda, Marcela Villa and her husband, Oscar Castruita, and Elizabeth Villa and her husband, Eli Gregorio; and his seven brothers, Alfredo Flores and his wife, Zenaida, Javier Flores and his wife, Maria, Rito Flores and his wife, Lourdes, Cesar Villa and his wife, Martha, Juan Villa and his wife, Rosy, Carlos Villa and his wife, Maribel, and Jesus Villa. His greatest joy was his family, especially his nine grandchildren: Jasiah, Janesah, Zae, Amby, Jade, Adrian, Alek, Bella, and Jett. They were a tremendous source of love and pride for Arturo, and the memories they created together will be treasured forever.
