Barbara “Ginger” Louise Crume, age 90, of Canyon, passed away on March 28, 2026.

Ginger was born in Peakin, Illinois, on December 24, 1935, to George H. and Dorothy A. (LeSeure) Wubben. They preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her husband Bobby Joe Crume, two brothers, Craig (Lowenda) Wubben, George Edward Wubben; one sister, Dorothy (Walt) Kleiber; three daughters Kathy Kight, Michelle Crume, Staci Kuerst.

Ginger grew up in Pekin, Illinois, where she spent a lot of time with family and friends. In her younger years she loved playing Run Sheepy Run, London Bridge, Kick the Can, and listening to the radio shows The Shadow Knows and Inner Sanctum Mystery. You could always catch her rollerskating or at her favorite restaurant Andy’s after school and on the weekends.

Ginger graduated from Pekin Community Highschool in 1955. It was there that she talked to an army recruiter and she eagerly enlisted in the United States Army. She was stationed at Fort Leonard Wood in South Central Missouri. She spent her time as a dental tech, hospital clerk, and eventually in the children's ward. She absolutely loved working with special needs children and spending time with her Army friends. She ended up meeting her future husband, Bobby Joe Crume.

Ginger and Bob were married on September 16, 1958, beginning a journey that would span fifty-seven years, until Bob passed in 2015. Even though life brought them to different places, they would always make it a priority to travel and see family. Be that family fishing trips to Minnesota or visiting family in Colorado.

Ginger enjoyed golf, bowling, playing cards, and in her later years she enjoyed putting together puzzles, painting, and listening to her mystery books. Above all, her greatest happiness came from the time she spent with her family. Sunday dinners were a staple in her family. She baked, cooked, and created memories around the table. Her family would describe her as loving, gentle, compassionate, a woman of faith, and an overall mother figure.

Ginger is survived by her daughter Karen Crume; and her son, Kevin (Melissa) Crume; her nieces, Diana Lynn (Dennis) Sours, Teresa (Robert) Means, Deanna Wubben, Shannon Crume, Casey Reynolds and her nephew Mark Wubben; six grandchildren Jennifer Wilson, April (Danny) King, Nicholas Kuerst, Kylee (Peyton) Drahos, Kassidy Price and Kadyn (Jordan) Alexander; and by her great-grandchildren, Constantine and Emory Wilson, Phoenix Crume, Aurora and Merik King, Hadley Alexander, and one great on the way!

There are no services planned at this time, the family will carry out Ginger’s wishes privately.
