Bettye Ross (Stanley) LeGrand

Bettye passed peacefully in her sleep Friday, March 18, 2022, at age 95. Services will be held at Chaparral Hills Baptist Church on April 8, 2022 at 2:00 pm. Visitation will be immediately after the service.

She was born January 1, 1927 in Chillicothe, TX to Ross and Estelle Stanley. She grew up in Lubbock, TX.  Immediately after graduating from Lubbock High School, she traveled by train to Washington, DC to work in the War Department. This was a monumental decision for someone so small and timid who had never travelled outside Lubbock before. The time spent in Washington was always a very fond memory for her.

Upon returning from Washington, Bettye worked at the Helium Plant where she met James LeGrand. They married on March 17, 1951.  They lived in Bushland, TX raising six children. Betty worked in the Bushland School cafeteria for a number of years.

She was preceded in death by her husband James, her parents, brothers Robert and Dudley and sister Kay.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory her children: Tom LeGrand (Rhonda), Carolyne Gossett (Jeff), Alisa LeGrand, Kathy Martin (Jeff), Karen LaGasse, Barbie Beuzekom (Dave). Her beloved grandchildren Shauna, Jessica, Shannon, Qlo, Aaron, Zachary, Rachel, Sarah, Brittany, Chelsea, Hailey and 15 great-grandchildren who knew her as Princess Grandma. She also leaves behind her brother Kyle Stanley and sister-in-law Peggy Stanley as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
