Beverly Ann (Rankin) Dunstan

September 14, 1935 — September 10, 2023

Amarillo

Beverly Ann Dunstan, age 87, of Amarillo, entered the gates of Heaven on September 10, 2023, in Caprock Nursing Home of Borger, TX.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, September 18, 2023, at 10:00 AM at Coulter Road Baptist Church.  The Rev. William Meyerholtz of Miracle Covenant Church Healing Center will officiate.

Beverly was born September 14, 1935, in Brookville, PA, to her parents, Robert William and Catharine Carnes Rankin.  She was very close to her older sister, Maxine Rankin Reinard.  She graduated from high school at the age of sixteen and earned her nursing degree from Syracuse University before she was twenty. Beverly worked for several years as an RN and then later went on to earn her master's degree in Clinical Psychology from West Texas State University.

On November 12, 1965, she married Robert Dunstan in Warren, Ohio.  The couple adopted their two sons from a children's home when they were in elementary school in Ohio and raised them in a loving, Christian home. They were later called by the Lord and moved to Amarillo with their sons in 1974. Together in 1981, they co-founded Teen Challenge of Amarillo, later named Life Challenge, a spiritual boot camp for men with life-controlling problems.  Beverly served alongside her husband as co-director and co-founder of Life Challenge for the next thirty years, where they were respectfully known as "Uncle Bob and Aunt Bea."

She was preceded in death by her sister, Maxine, her parents, and by her husband, Bob in 2019.

Beverly is survived by her two sons, Emil and wife Kristin of Virginia and David and wife Sandi of Amarillo; her five grandchildren, Brianne, Ashley, Heidi, Ambra, and Armand; four great-grandchildren; and five nieces, Deana, Roxana, Erica, Aimee, and Melissa.

Beverly donated her body to research further the development of prevention and treatment of Alzheimer's. The family suggests that memorials be made in Beverly's memory to the Alzheimer’s Association   https://www.alz.org/?ver=a
