Billie Rae Hotmann, age 90, of Amarillo, Texas, passed away on November 2, 2026, in Amarillo.
A memorial service to honor and celebrate her life will be on Friday, November 6, 2026 at 10:00 AM at Paramount Baptist Church.
Billie was born on November 19, 1935, in San Antonio, Texas..The love story of Billie and Gerald Roger Hotmann began long before they exchanged wedding vows. The two first met in junior high school, where a friendship blossomed into a love that would last a lifetime. On August 17, 1955, shortly before Gerald departed to serve in the United States Navy, the young couple married in the home of his parents in San Antonio. It was the beginning of a beautiful marriage that would span more than 71 years, built on love, commitment, faith, and, perhaps most importantly, forgiveness
In 1965, Billie and Gerald moved their family from San Antonio to Amarillo, where they established their roots and built a wonderful life together. The family joined Paramount Baptist Church, a place that would become much more than their church home. Billie eventually accepted the position of church secretary, a role for which she was uniquely suited. She faithfully served the church and its congregation for many years before retiring on March 1, 2002.
Although petite in stature, Billie possessed a remarkable inner strength. She was quiet, reserved, and rather private, but those very qualities made her an exceptional confidante to the pastors and church members she served. Often working closely with individuals and families navigating some of life's most difficult circumstances, Billie understood the importance of discretion and trust. Whatever she learned in confidence remained there. She never shared the private struggles of others, not even with her own family. Her integrity was unwavering, and her quiet compassion was a gift to those who needed it most.
If Billie had a love language, it was undoubtedly acts of service. She expressed her love not through grand gestures or elaborate words, but through the countless ways she gave of herself to others. Whether caring for her family, supporting her church, or quietly meeting the needs of someone going through a difficult time, Billie simply served. And perhaps she had a second love language as well: hospitality. She had a special way of welcoming those she loved, making them feel comfortable, cared for, and at home.
As a mother, Billie was her children's greatest cheerleader, offering encouragement, support, and steadfast love throughout their lives. As a wife, she was devoted to Gerald, standing beside him through the many seasons of their extraordinary marriage. Billie understood that a lasting marriage was not built on perfection, but on grace, patience, and the willingness to forgive. She gave freely of herself, never seeking recognition or praise, but finding purpose and fulfillment in caring for the people she loved.
Billie was preceded in death by her mother, Evelyn Jameson Jasper; her grandparents who raised her, John Paul and Lula Jamemson; her granddaughter, Khara Elese Hotmann; and her brother RJ Jasper.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 71 years, Gerald Roger Hotmann; her son, Mark Hotmann and wife Pam; her daughter, Katherine Fristoe and husband Kelly: her sister, Nada Kay Long; grandchildren, Jordan Hotmann and wife Bonne, Katryce Johnson and husband Jake, Alyssa Lockhart and husband Clay, Megan Boman and husband Derek, Lauren Alverson and husband James; a very special great-niece, Kathryn Thomsen and husband Tim; her great-grandchildren, Easton, Dash, Beckham, Collins, Rowan, Jeanah, Jillian, Winter Joy, Evie, Elena, Wren, Isaac, Calder, Kip, Harley, and one on the way; and her niece Debra Zimmer and nephews John, David and Bob Jasper.
