Billye Jean Talley, 93, of Amarillo, passed peacefully on February 21, 2026.
Billye’s life will be celebrated on Saturday, February 28, 2026, at 1 pm in the Schooler Funeral Home Brentwood Chapel, with Pastor Gene Shelburne presiding.
Billye was born October 15, 1932, in Yoakum, Tx to William Pearce and Willie Garrett. She moved to Amarillo in 1943 and graduated from Amarillo High School in 1949. Billye married Louis Franks in 1950. He preceded her in death in 1983. She then married Bill J. Talley on July 11, 1985. He preceded her in death February 20, 2010. She was employed by American National Bank in 1955 and retired from Texas American Bank in 1986. She was a devoted member of Anna Street Church of Christ. She was a property owner and manager for 38 years.
Billye was a people person who never met a stranger and was an avid reader. As her family grew, she went back to her long-time hobby and crocheted afghans for all the new babies.
She loved life, laughing, and joking with her family and friends. Her goal in life was to put God first, others second and herself last.
Billye was preceded by her parents, her husbands, Louis Franks and Bill J. Talley, two sisters, Bess Yarbrough and Barbara Flynn and their husbands, a niece, Zee McQueen and her husband, a nephew by marriage, Billy Henard, a great niece, Kristin Passanissi and a great nephew, J.D. Flynn.
Those left to cherish her memories are her stepdaughter, Ginger Ford and husband, Ron of Amarillo, three stepsons, Randy Talley of Garland, Billy Joe Talley and wife Libby of Amarillo and Barry Talley and wife Debbie of Deer park; seven grandchildren, great grandchildren, five nieces, Dawn Ann Thompson, Debbie Henard, Melody Flynn, Jerrie Jan Baumgartner and Gail Crow; as well as Christy, Taylor and Ashton.
