Calvin was born May 9, 1930 in Pauls Valley, OK to Stacia and Calvin Ellis. He graduated from Oklahoma A&M (Oklahoma State University) with a degree in geology. He met Kathryn Stewart and they married in 1959. He and Kathryn were members of the Amarillo Ballroom Dancer’s Association. He was a member of the American Association of Petroleum Landmen. He was past chairman of the Randall County Republican Party. He was a member of Hillside Christian Church. He was an excellent family man.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathryn on November 3, 2007, his parents, his step-father, J. O. Bumpus and his brother, Robert Ellis.
He is survived by two daughters, Leigh Ann Hendrix of Altus, OK and Emily Ellis of Amarillo; two sisters, Karen McDonald and husband Joe, and Joyce Finley and husband Don, both of Edmond, OK; nephews Jeff, Kevin, and Robert, nieces Erin, Stacy and Beverly Jo, and four grandchildren, Jenny Hendrix, Lexi Ellis, Parker Ellis and Justin Hendrix.
