Carmen Lange, age 91 of Amarillo, died peacefully at home in Amarillo, surrounded by her family.
The family will receive guests at the funeral home on Monday, September 29, 2025, from 5:30 PM until 7:00 PM at Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 South Georgia. The funeral will be on Tuesday, September 30, 2025 at 10:00 AM at Washington Avenue Christian Church, 3800 S. Washington.
Carmen was born on October 26, 1933, in Santa Rosa, Texas, to her loving parents, Manuel and Albina Badillo.
In 1968, she married her beloved, John B. Lange, in Long Beach, California. Their marriage began an incredible journey together that spanned forty-three years, filled with love, adventure, and unwavering companionship, until John’s passing in 2011. Carmen’s devotion to her family, her strength of character, and her faith were at the heart of everything she did.
Carmen was known for her vibrant spirit, her beauty, and her feisty nature. She was a woman of deep faith, a guiding light for her loved ones. She was the beloved matriarch of her family, always the one to bring everyone together—whether it was through a warm meal, a listening ear, or her unshakeable presence. Carmen was an exceptional cook, and her home was often the setting for joyful family gatherings and celebrations. She also loved tending to her flowers in her gardens and sewing. She was a faithful attendant of Victory Church for many years where she served as an usher.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her sister, Nina Badillo: an infant brother, Rick Badillo; two brothers, Manuel and Frank Badillo; two sons, Francisco De Vasquez and James De Vasquez.
Carmen is survived by her daughters, Alice Golibart of Long Beach, CA, Angelita Bass, and her husband Bill of Amarillo, TX, Diana Garcia and Kathy Etheridge of Amarillo, TX; four sisters, Ellen Webb, Isabelle Rodriguez, Della Badillo, Linda Flores and Stella Weidner; her brothers, Joe, Ricky and Robert Badillo; her seven grandchildren, Christopher Bradshaw of Philadelphia, PA, Carlos G. Golibart of San Diego, CA, Monique De Vasquez of Chicago, IL, Michael Lange of Amarillo, TX, Jason Harris of Austin, TX, Ashley Shoopman, and her husband Evan of Hampton, VA, and Tiffany Teuber, and her husband Andrew of Mchenry, IL; and her six great grandchildren, Christopher Bradshaw Jr., Tallen and Kaylee Lange, Tristan Harris, and Lyla and Landon Teuber.
