Obituary

Colette Walsh, 79, passed away peacefully on July 23, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. Just before her passing, she received the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick, a fitting reflection of the deep Christian faith that guided her throughout her life.

A rosary will be said on Thursday, August 6th at 6:00 PM at Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 South Georgia in Amarillo. The funeral mass will be on Friday, August 7, 2026, at 10:00 AM at St. Mary's Cathedral, 1200 South Washington, Amarillo, Texas.

Colette was born on May 13, 1947, in Amarillo, Texas, to John William Edwards and Colette Thekla Drexler Edwards. She was raised in Amarillo alongside her siblings, Michael, Jimmy, and Jan Edwards.

She attended St. Mary's Academy, where she graduated from high school and was honored as Homecoming Queen in 1965. Following graduation, she married her high school sweetheart, Mike Walsh, who also attended St. Mary's and Price College. Together they built a beautiful life centered on faith, family, and love, sharing 61 wonderful years of marriage. Together, Mike and Colette raised three children: Michael, Lance, and Erin. Nothing brought Colette greater joy than her family.

During Mike's career, they made their home in many places across the country over the course of 41 years before settling in Reno, Nevada. Prior to moving to Reno, they spent 26 years in the San Francisco Bay Area, where they formed many lasting friendships and cherished memories.

Colette enjoyed many years on the golf course and fulfilled a lifelong dream by playing the historic Old Course at St. Andrews in Scotland. Whether traveling, golfing, or simply spending time with those she loved, she embraced life with kindness, grace, and quiet strength.

Above all else, Colette was a devoted wife, a loving mother, and a proud grandmother. Her unwavering faith, gentle spirit, and steadfast love will continue to inspire all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother Michael Edwards; and a son, Dr. Lance Walsh.

Colette is survived by her devoted husband Mike; her son Michael Walsh and wife Julie; her daughter Erin and husband Dr. Scott Vasconcellos; daughter-in-law, Laura Walsh; her brother, Jimmy Edwards and wife Debbie; her sister Jan Edwards; and her 13 beloved grandchildren, who were the light of her life.
