Corda Jean (Kemper) Price, 91, of Amarillo passed away into the arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and her eternal home in Heaven on Tuesday, April 16, 2024.
There will be a family visitation on Friday, July 19th from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. in the Fireside Room at Paramount Baptist Church, 3801 S. Western. A celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, July 20, 2024 at 10:30 a.m., Paramount Baptist Church with Reverend David Preston, Missions & Community Impact pastor, officiating. Private Burial will be in Llano East Cemetery Field of Valor next to her husband. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia.
Jean was born July 06, 1932, in Corona, New Mexico to Ezra Arthur Kemper and Eppie (Causseaux) Kemper. Raised in Texas from an early age, she attended schools in Merkel, Texas, graduating in 1949. She later moved to Amarillo and attend Draughon's Business College, thereafter working for several local businesses.
She married Joe C Price in Amarillo on November 24, 1954. Her husband worked in Amarillo as an Air Traffic Controller with the FAA. His next assignment was in New Orleans, LA., and from there the couple would have assignments in Albuquerque, NM., Hawaii, Guam and Florida. During which time the couple began raising three children before returning to Amarillo, when her husband retired from the FAA with 20 years of service.
Jean became a member of Epsilon Sigma Alpha while in Albuquerque, was a charter member of the organization on Guam and continued her service in the other cities in which they lived. While on Guam, she was a Troop Leader for her daughter's Girl Scout troop, assisted with her twin boys Cub Scout troop, was active in volunteer work at the Chief Brodie Handicap School, Guam Memorial Hospital, FAA Auxiliary as well as other areas.
Upon returning to Amarillo, Jean put her business skills to work in a number of local businesses before starting The Search Company and Price Investigations with her husband. The two would travel across most of the continental U.S. during the course of work in both companies.
In her spare time growing up (at a younger age) she enjoyed being on the family farm helping her father train Quarter horses, working the fields with her mother and grandparents, playing basketball in high school, learning and enjoying playing the piano, square dancing and roller skating.
Cooking for family and friends, baking and decorating cakes for birthdays, weddings, anniversaries and other social gatherings which almost became another business. She enjoyed sewing, teaching Sunday School, watching and playing with grand children and sometimes talking on her husband's Amateur "Ham" Radio. One of her highlights and joys was a mission trip to South Korea.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her in-laws, Carlie Cecil Price and Gladys Beatrice (Stevens) Price Wheeler, Gladys Pearl (Dotson) Price, her siblings, Aubrey Bedford Kemper, Arthur Benny Kemper, Ina Alice (Kemper) Brown and James Orvil Kemper, sister-in-law Betty Ann (Price) Stairs, brothers-in-law Gary Edward Price and Donald Lee "Donnie" Price, as well as a large number of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Survivors include her children; a daughter, Laurel White and husband, Denny, of Amarillo; two sons, Joel B. Price and wife, Karolyn, of Amarillo and Noel D. Price and wife, Nikki, of Enfield, CT.; eight grandchildren, Dennis White, Jr. and wife Sarah of Claude, Jared White and wife Shoshanna of Plainview, Matthew White and wife Nga of Amarillo, Joshua Price and wife Allison of College Station, Meghan (Price) Grothaus and husband Eddie of Dallas, Alexander Price of Smyrna TN., Seth Price of Las Vegas, NV. and Courtney Price of Enfield, CT.; six great-grandchildren, Rebekah (White) Baucom and husband Nik of Friona, Aiden White of Claude, Hannah White and ShaeLynn White of Plainview, Norah Grothaus and Harper Grothaus of Dallas; Sister In-law's Jan, Kay and Mary Jane of Amarillo and many other extended family members.
The family suggests memorials be to Wounded Warriors, Doctors Without Borders, St. Judes, Shriners Children's Hawaii, Special Olympics, Alzheimer's Association, or to a favorite charity.
