Courtney Ann Hudson

Courtney Ann (Rome) Hudson died on December 28, 2025, in Amarillo, Texas.

Courtney was born on October 7, 1932, in New Orleans, Louisiana, to Harold Rome and Olga Milto Rome.

In her later years, Courtney fondly recounted stories of taking streetcars to grade school and later to nursing school in New Orleans, where she gained her RN. She was in nursing school when she met a young doctor, Thomas Leo Hudson, at Mercy Hospital. Tom and Courtney married on December 19, 1953.

Dr. Hudson was a United States Army man, so as the wife of an Army officer, Courtney focused on establishing homes for her growing family as they moved around the country. Regardless of where she found herself, Courtney supported her local community in a wide range of roles, which in Amarillo included serving as a docent at the Amarillo Museum of Art and volunteering with the Altar Guild at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church.

Courtney was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 70 years; her parents; one brother; and one daughter, Elizabeth. She is survived by a daughter, Terry Ann Hudson White (Mark) of Amarillo; three sons, Robert Lee Hudson (Tina) of Murphy, NC, Thomas Gerard Hudson (Magda) of Fort Worth, TX, Christopher James Hudson (Julie) of Portland, OR; four grandchildren, Courtney Marie White of Amarillo, Austin Leo Hudson (Monika) of Colorado Springs, CO, Hillary Ann White Pennock (Reagan) of Birmingham, AL, and Catherine Grace Hudson of Winston-Salem, NC; and one great-grandchild, Hudson Lee Pennock.

A rosary will be held on Monday, January 5, 2026, at 7:00 pm, followed by a vigil at 7:30 pm, and a funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, at 10:00 am, all at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Amarillo. Burial will follow at Llano Cemetery in Amarillo. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Dr. Thomas L. and Courtney Ann Hudson Scholarship Fund at the Amarillo College Foundation, P.O. Box 447, Amarillo, Texas 79178, or to the charity of your choice.
