Dan Reynolds drew his last breath at 3:00 AM on May 7, just days after his 74th birthday. Knowing his time was near, his family and close friends gathered around him in love. One of his final joys was witnessing a wedding that was rushed so he could be there. That moment showed the deep love and connection he had with so many.
Dan spent the last 34 years of his life with his devoted wife, Anne Sheets Reynolds. He was surrounded by an amazing group of friends and fellow followers of Christ, who brought strength, laughter, and joy into his life—especially on the dance floor. Dan loved to dance to country and western music, especially the rodeo swing. He was known for spinning and throwing his partners with flair and fun, always bringing energy to the room.
Before marrying Anne, Dan was married to Karlene Davis Lyons, with whom he had two children: his son, Shelby Bryan Reynolds, who lives in Yukon, Oklahoma with his wife Lee Anna. His daughter, Lacey Nadine Fellows, who lives with her husband JW in Graham, Texas. Dan was a proud grandfather to Dusty and Karlene, Lacey’s children and Shelby’s daughter, Kassidy.
Dan is also survived by his 95-year-old mother, Charlene Reynolds; his brothers, Keith Reynolds and his wife Debra, and Barry Reynolds; and his sister, Janet Macon, whose husband David Macon passed away in 2019. He was preceded in death by his father, Edgar Reynolds, in 2003, and his older brother, Lynn Reynolds, in 1987.
Dan’s first love was sports. He began playing baseball as a child through Kids Inc. and formed friendships that lasted a lifetime. At Palo Duro High School, he was part of the legendary “Big 3 Plus One” on the record-holding Palo Duro Dons football team.
His early career was in the beef slaughterhouse industry, but after meeting Anne, he took a new path. With her support, he earned an associate’s degree in Computer-Aided Drafting and Design. His senior project was designing the blueprints for the home he and Anne built northeast of Edmond, Oklahoma—a beautiful property with trees, a hill, and a lake. Together, Dan and Anne built the Dan Reynolds Construction Company and ran it for over sixteen years. Dan poured his heart into the land, shaping it into a space where others could gather and celebrate. For over 20 years, he hosted joyful Fourth of July parties by the lake he had crafted with care.
Even during the final years of his life, while dealing with health issues, Dan continued creating and giving. He built a “Binzebo” on their land—a beautiful gazebo made from a grain bin—where two of his closest friends were married less than two weeks before he passed.
Dan will be remembered for his big heart, deep faith, endless energy, and the way he made people feel welcomed, loved, and inspired to dance through life.
