Dee Hare, age 80 of Amarillo, was greeted at the gates of Heaven by her beloved granddaughter, Emilie, on May 9, 2023.
Her children will celebrate the love they have for their mother and receive guests at Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 South Georgia, on Mother’s Day, May 14, 2023, from 3:00 PM until 5:00 PM.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, May 15, 2023, at 10:00 AM at First Baptist Church. Dr. Howard K. Batson will officiate.
Dee was born on March 14, 1943, in Corning, Iowa, to her parents, Keith and Pauline Baker Hadley. She went on to obtain her nursing degree in Omaha from Clarkson Nursing Hospital. A career that began in 1963 and would span decades until her retirement. At High Plains Baptist Hospital, she was a pioneer when the nursing world collided with IT. Technology in healthcare brought many advancements but also many challenges while caring for patients. Dee was the nursing voice in the IT world. Dee spent over thirty-three years at BSA Hospital in Amarillo. She retired from there and went to work for Women's Healthcare Associates for six years, getting new mommies started on their prenatal care journey.
Throughout her life, Dee was a caregiver, not only to her precious family but to the thousands of lives she touched during her nursing career. She showered family, friends, and patients with compassion and understanding. Never once did she judge or condemn. Dee had a passion for people and never met a stranger, and had the ability to make anyone feel at ease. She could always make everyone laugh and had an amazing sense of humor.
She cherished her three children and instilled in them the importance of family. Family was everything. Dee showed them by example how to be a parent, through the good and the bad. As her children reached adulthood, she became their best friend. Her presence will be forever missed in their lives, but her love will live on forever.
She was preceded in death by her parents and by her granddaughter, Emilie Yarbrough and nephew Todd Stamp.
Dee is survived by her three children, Dana Yarbrough and her husband Aron; Kevin Hare and his wife Krystal and Gretchen Bonnette and her husband Jason all of Amarillo; her sister, Janice Stamp and her husband Craig of Omaha, Nebraska; and her grandchildren, Joshua Yarbrough and his wife Lauren, Allison Bonnette, Brennan Bonnette, Morgan Niblock and her husband Payden, Clayton Hare and Kali Hare; by one great-grandson, Everett Yarbrough; by her nephews and nieces, Randy Stamp, Pam Westin and Jill Moss all of Omaha, Nebraska; and by extended family members, Jeff Behan, Susan Behan.
