Donald "Don" Richard Sharp

December 23, 1937 — April 17, 2024

Donald “Don” Richard Sharp, our favorite Dad, Grumpy Pa and friend passed away on April 17, 2024 at 86 years old. He was born December 23,1937 in Stratton, Nebraska to Leo and Helen Brannan Sharp.

Don's life will be celebrated on Saturday, May 18, 2024, at 10 am in the Schooler Funeral Home's Brentwood Chapel, 4100 S. Georgia; with Reverend Greg Corona presiding. The burial will be private.

Don often recalled memories of being a farm kid. He graduated high school from The Nebraska School of Agriculture in 1955. While in high school, Don was a rodeo clown. He also started his lifelong path of being a maker. He used his leatherwork skills to make wallets and saddles.

After high school, Don became a cabinet maker. This would become his lifelong occupation. He owned Heirloom Cabinets for many years. Don became interested in stained and beveled glass. This led to Don’s other business, The Glass Gallery.

Don was a lifelong learner. If he was curious about something, he would research the topic in depth to learn as much as he could. He had many varied interests including fishing, hunting, photography, metal casting, silversmithing, baking, smoking meats, making sausage, 3D printing and picking out the most hilarious cards for gift giving occasions.

Don was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Bill Sharp and his niece, Sandy Kay Gutierrez.

His survivors are his daughter, Amy Choate of Amarillo, his grandson Seth Choate, stationed in Guam and his granddaughter Joslyn Choate of Amarillo. As well as his nieces, nephews, and former employees that were like family.

The family requests that you wear Don’s favorite color blue for his celebration of life.
