Donald Douglas Roop Sr

Donald “Don” Douglas Roop Sr, 81, of Amarillo passed peacefully in his home on May 27, 2025.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, May 30, 2025 at 11:00 am in Llano Cemetery East with Reverend Greg Corona of Hillside Christian West Campus presiding.

Don was born in Amarillo, Texas on September 6, 1943. He was the 13th of 14 children born to Theodore and Irene Kolb (Weaver) Roop that consisted of eight sisters and five brothers.

Don had a very successful career as a salesman in the furniture industry, a career that spanned most of his life. He worked for Heath Furniture where he became the store manager at their 501 S. Polk St location. Don worked for Montgomery Wards and then Dillards becoming a Million Dollar Salesman with both companies. He later became a co-owner of D and D Mattress Company alongside his youngest son. In 2014, Don decided he was ready for retirement and walked away from the sales career after many years of dedicated service to his community.

Don is preceded in death by his parents, son, Ronnie, brothers, Judson, Herman, Carl, and Gene, and sisters, Joyce, Barbara, and Theodora. Those left to cherish his memories are his beloved wife, Crystal Diane Roop, his children, Donald Jr and wife Teresa, Rick and wife Uvea, Dustin and wife Kaylee, and Lisa; as well as his nine grandchildren, many extended family and dear friends.
