Doris Lee (Evans) Ford

Dorris Lee (Evans) Ford, 87, of Amarillo passed away August 24, 2021.

Visitation will be from 4-6:00 p.m., Saturday, August 28, 2021 at Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. Funeral service will be at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, August 29, 2021 at Hillside Christian Church, 6100 Soncy. Interment will be private. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home.

Dorris was born March 18, 1934 at Floydada, TX to Joe and Carlene Mooney Dunavant. They moved to Amarillo, TX in 1940 when Dorris was in the first grade. She graduated from Amarillo High School in 1952. She was a graduate of Texas Tech School of Banking. She retired after 37 years at Amarillo National Bank on September 1, 1992, and was a Vice President at the time of retirement. Dorris was a member of Hillside Christian Church. She volunteered for Meals on Wheels Annual Geranium sale and was a member of Widowed Persons Service where she was an outreach volunteer.

Dorris married C.A. Evans, Jr. in Amarillo, TX on September 4, 1952. He died on December 3, 1983. She married Roy E. Ford of Pampa, TX on December 21, 1986. He died December 16, 2010. She and Roy enjoyed over 12 years of travel in their motorhome, seeing the country and square dancing.

She is also preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Kay Lynette Evans in 1967; daughter, LeAnne Prestridge in 2017; brother, Ken Dunavant in 2006; and son-in-law, Glen Harris in 2020.

Dorris is survived by daughter, Gay Evans Harris; grandson, Michael Brandon Hefner of Austin, TX; granddaughters, Christie Boswell and husband, Jack, and Abby Williams and husband, Colt; two great-granddaughters, Reagon Boswell and Emmylou Williams; two great-grandsons, Ryder Williams and Brody Boswell all of Amarillo, TX; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Gary and Donna Ford of Broadview, NM.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to Meals on Wheels, 719 W. 7th, Amarillo, TX 79106 or their favorite charity.
