Doris Elaine (Clark) Remy, age 89 of Amarillo, died April 22, 2025, in Amarillo, TX
A graveside service will be at 2:00 pm on Friday, April 25, 2025, at Llano Cemetery East. Rev. Tom Foran of First Baptist Church will officiate.
Born in Higgins, Texas to the pioneering family of James Willis & Texas Virginia Krehbiel (Clark), Doris was an adventurous spirit with a passion for life and a love for the natural beauty of our world. Her spiritual home would be among the high-mountain lakes & meadows of the Great Rockies, where she blossomed like a Columbine in the Cuchara Valley.
A pragmatic administrator of business, family, & home Doris had a soft touch for life’s tough challenges and would often comfort friends & family with a homecooked meal preceded with “Well…how IS it!?” (before the 1st bite!).
Doris was affectionately known as ‘Nanu” by her grandchildren, and eventually all those that came to know & love her.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Delmar Durrett; a sister Maurine; two brothers William & Earl; and a great-granddaughter, Ava Marie DeBord.
Doris is survived by her two daughters, Shelley Stewart and her husband Patrick of Lake Wales, FL and Gae Strange and her husband David of Amarillo; her grandchildren, Ty DeBord and his wife Berkley, Seth Cross, and Sean Cross and his wife Braelynn; great granddaughter, Audrey Anne DeBord; her very special friend, Jim Remy; and seven step-children, Randall Durrett, Robert Durrett, Allen Durrett, Louis Durrett, Liz Mayes, Jill Remy, and Tom Remy; a niece, Marla Johnson; and two nephews, Billy and Steve Clark.
The family suggests memorial donations in Doris’ honor to:
