Dorless "Dee"
Wells
Sep 18, 1931 — Oct 27, 2026
Amarillo, Texas
Saturday
Schooler Funeral Home’s Brentwood Chapel
Starts at 10:00 am (Central time)
Dorless “Dee” Parker Wells, 95, of Amarillo passed from this world into the glorious presence of her Lord and Savior on October 27, 2026.
Memorial services will be Saturday, November 7, 2026, at 10 AM in the Schooler Funeral Home’s Brentwood Chapel, 4100 S. Georgia.
Dee was born September 18, 1931, to Leslie and Doris Hall Parker in Amarillo and was reared in Stratford along with her little sister, Gaynelle. She loved school and played basketball all four years of high school. After attending Texas Tech, she married Ross Wells with whom she reared Leslie, Mike and Roger. After becoming single she kept books for several businesses simultaneously before moving to Amarillo in 1974. She worked from a feed yard to her own apartment cleaning business to SPS from which she retired, having an adventure all the way. She married Ed Collins in 2007 who preceded her in death in 2017.
Dee was always grateful to her parents who survived the Dust Bowl with flying colors. Her dad, generous, imaginative, fun loving and a fix-anything sort, was complemented by her mom who was frugal and could make a silk purse out of a sow’s ear. They instilled a valuable pioneer spirit into both girls. Fiercely independent, Dee could do a bunch of stuff and if she couldn’t, she knew someone who could! She was most comfortable in having a tool for everything and creating an orderly, efficient and practical environment.
Her favorite fun was making life easier or more pleasant for other people though she didn’t always know that she had.
A love of words made Dee a voracious reader and fan of crossword puzzles. Sports from rodeos to football were great visual hobbies. A country girl and tomboy to the bone she managed to fit dancing, animal loves, playing in the yard and appreciation for God’s lovely and magical handiwork into an adventurous and very satisfying life.
Survivors include her daughter Leslie Wells of Amarillo; son, Roger and wife Carol, daughter in law, Nora Wells, all of Stratford; delightful grandchildren and great grands; a sister, Gaynelle Riffe of Stratford; wonderful nieces, nephews and cousins whom she loved very much. Dee was preceded in death by her son, Mike, and brother-in-law, Don Riffe.
The family suggests memorials to the Stratford Cemetery Association, Stratford, 79084, Family Services Center, Washington Avenue Christian Church, 3800 S. Washington, Amarillo, TX 79110 or the animal shelter Panhandle Paws of Hope, Box 2525, Amarillo, 79105.
