Mrs. Bonnell was born January 4, 1924, in Aline, OK to Harold E. and Anna Mae Wickens. She attended school in Lawton, Oklahoma and married Floyd E. Bonnell in Ft. Worth, Texas on October 20, 1945.
Dottie and Floyd traveled to several countries and many states while Floyd was in the U.S. Army, retiring in Amarillo. Following Army retirement, they managed the Heritage House Apartments from 1967 to 1970 and the Wellington Manor Apartments from 1970 to 1973. Dottie then attended beauty school and became a manicurist, working in several salons in Amarillo for more than 25 years. She was a member of St. Stephens Methodist Church.
Dottie was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Lt. Col. Floyd E. Bonnell; her parents, Harold E. and Anna Mae Wickens; and one brother, Donald D. Wickens.
Survivors include a daughter, Patti Jones and husband, Jerry, of Amarillo; a son, Robert E. Young and wife, Darlene of Marengo, Iowa; a sister, JoAnn Bennett of Amarillo; a brother, Douglas Wickens of Lawton, Oklahoma; seven grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
