Dovie Alice McCoy age 96 of Amarillo passed away May 8, 2026, in Amarillo

Dovie was born on July 18, 1929, in Turkey, Texas  to her parents, Roy and Cliffie Mangum Richmond.

A devoted homemaker, Dovie dedicated her life to caring for those she loved most. She lovingly raised her two children, Rita and Michael, and her family was truly the center of her world. Her happiest moments were spent surrounded by loved ones during family gatherings, where laughter, stories, and togetherness filled her heart with joy.

Dovie found peace and happiness in the beauty of nature. She loved walking along the beach, fishing, and camping beneath the open sky, and tending to flowers. Whether outdoors enjoying the fresh air or admiring the simple beauty of creation, she felt most at home in nature.

Her faithful feline companion, Peanut, was her constant friend and brought her great comfort and companionship.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Maurice McCoy; her siblings, Ollie Mae, J.D., J.C., and Doris; and by her two children, Rita and Michael.

Dovie is survived by her two granddaughters, Marlene Brunet and husband Greg of Grand Junction, CO and Tracy Hansen and husband Bob of San Angelo, TX; her daughters-in-law, Lorri McCoy and Terri McCoy; her great grandchildren, Ashley and McKenzie Brunet; and by many loving nieces and nephews.
