Edwin "Butch" Lee Greer

February 22, 1950 — March 26, 2026

Amarillo

Edwin “Butch” Lee Greer, 76, of Canyon, Texas, passed peacefully on March 26, 2026, and was reunited with his beloved wife Judy just 77 days after her passing. No services are scheduled at this time.

Butch was born on February 22, 1950, in Dumas, Texas, to Harold Edward and Billie Ruth (Clark) Greer. He graduated from Dumas High School in 1968. It was at Dumas High School that he met Judy Ann Hamilton. They married on May 21, 1971, and began their family.

Butch began his career as a barber after attending and completing his certification and worked his way through college. He graduated from West Texas State University (Now West Texas A&M University) in Canyon, Texas with his bachelor’s degree in business. Following a 20+ year career with Diamond Shamrock, he returned to PANTEX where he would work until his retirement.

Butch and Judy shared a deeply rooted belief in their faith. Together they were pillars of First Christian Church where Butch served as an Elder. He loved attending weekly bible study and was a presence throughout many other areas of the church. They made sure they raised their children in church, and instilled in them the value of faith, love, and hard work. Butch was an amazing husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He adored his grandkids. One of the most precious and cherished memories Butch held close to was the fact that he gave every single one of his grandkids their first haircut.

Butch loved a good ball game. He enjoyed a hard-fought competition rather it be on the diamond or the grid iron. His absolute favorite teams were the Dallas Cowboys, and the Texas Rangers. As he and Judy aged into retirement, they began traveling the country together. They saw the country one state at a time and even joined a travel club where they would eventually serve as both vice and sitting president. They just loved a good adventure.

Butch was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Judy, and his parents. Those left to cherish his memories are his daughters, Tammy Marnell and Kirk, and Jennifer Valdez and Trini, brother, Mark Greer and wife Sheila of Tennessee; and of course his favorite people, his grandkids, Jayton, Brayden, and Brylee Marnell, Bennet Graham and Lex, Jonathan Valdez, and Noah Valdez, as well as the great-grandchildren, Tommie Jay Marnell, Wyatt Graham, and John Henry Graham; as well as many extended family and cherished friends.

The family would like to extend a sincere debt of gratitude to Conner Court in Canyon and their incredible staff for the wonderful care he received in his time with them.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation be made in honor of Butch and Judy Greer to First Christian Church of Amarillo.
