Ernest “Ernie” Ray Blount, 68, of Wildorado passed away August 18, 2021.

Celebration of life service will be from 4-7:00 p.m., Saturday, August 21, 2021 at the home of Chris Blount, 2801 Westline Rd., Wildorado. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home.

Ernie was born August 6, 1953 in Ballinger, TX to Kenneth and Dorthy Blount. Ernie grew up in Sydney, MT and finished school at Joliet High School. In his younger years, he loved being at Lake Whitney, TX where he spent the summers with his cousins and worked at The Arrowhead Lodge and also worked in construction. His later years of life were spent working with his oldest son and grandsons in custom harvesting.

Ernie's happiest times were spent working with his grandsons and watching them play in all of their activities. He had a love of cooking, specifically grilling and smoking meats to share with others. He wouldn't pass a farmers market or fruit stand without buying a watermelon or cantaloupe to give away. Ernie had the biggest heart and deeply cared for all of his friends and family.

He is preceded in death by his father, Kenneth Blount; mother, Dorthy Blount; daughter, Trisha Broadway; 1 niece; and 1 nephew.

Ernie is survived by his sister, Cathy Steinmetz of Helena, MT; brother, Ken Blount of Powell, WY; sister, Cindy Gillete of Powell, WY; son, Chris Blount and wife, Tiffany of Wildorado, TX; son, Jeremy Blount and wife, Jennifer of Aransas Pass, TX; daughter, Kayla Rotherham and husband, Jess of Bertram, TX; daughter, Kira Green and husband, Lee of Amarillo, TX;  daughter, Sarah Broadway of Wichita Falls, TX; daughter, Casey Blount of Billings, MT; 16 grandchildren; and 5 nieces and nephews.
