Evagene Ivie

Evagene Ivie, 95, formerly of Amarillo, passed peacefully in Sumner, Texas on May 18, 2025 with her family by her side.

Graveside Services will be held on Thursday, May 22, 2025 at 1:00 PM at Memorial Park Cemetery, 6969 Interstate 40 East in Amarillo, Texas with Pastor Kevin Oakley presiding.

She was born June 10, 1929, in Durham, Oklahoma to William Buren and Juil Vandiver. She was blessed with her children Doris and Terry. She also loved Randy and Glenn as sons.

She was an avid rodeo fan. She raised quarter horses on a small piece of land just north of town for many years. She owned A Action Beauty Salon on North Buchanan Street for much of her life. She was a great cook and loved sewing, embroidery, and painting ceramics. Most importantly she loved Jesus.

She is survived by her son-in-law Glenn Shadix and Randy Ivie, whom she loved as a son. Granddaughter Shannon McCarroll and husband Mike. Her great-grandchildren Jesseca Garrett and husband Kyle; Rylee Layton and wife Ellen; and Noah Shadix. Great-great-grandchildren Kensleigh, Brynleigh, Kalan, and Waylon. Martha Burton, a great friend and caregiver.

She was preceded in death by her daughter Doris Shadix; her son Terry Ivie; her grandsons Bowie Ivie and David Shadix; and Letty Ivie her daughter in law.

She will be remembered for her fiery spirit and her love for her family.
