"Felícitas “Nena” H. Díaz, 92, of Amarillo passed peacefully onTuesday, September 30, 2025.

The family will receive guests from 5:00 pm to 6:30 pm on Friday, October 3, 2025, at Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia. Rosary will follow at 6:30 p.m. Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, October 4, 2025, at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church at 4100 Coulter Street, with Reverend John Valdez presiding. Burial will follow at Llano Cemetery.

Felícitas was born on May 3, 1933, in Amarillo, Texas, to José and Luisa Hernández. She was a devoted member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church and gave her time generously to many parish organizations.

On December 4, 1956, she married Frank “Pancho” Díaz, the love of her life. Felícitas worked as a registered nurse at St. Anthony’s Hospital for more than 30 years, remembered by patients and colleagues alike for her skill, compassion, and dedication.

She will be fondly remembered for her deep spirituality, her love for family, her caring heart as a mother, aunt, and grandmother, and her commitment to serving others.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to Jan Werner Adult Daycare Center and The Ware for their compassionate care of Felícitas.

She was preceded in death by her parents, José and Luisa Hernández; her beloved husband, Frank Díaz; two sons, Michael Díaz and Alfredo “René” Díaz; brothers, Robert, Joe, and Arthur Hernández; and sisters, Santos Ramírez, Aurora Hernández, Trinidad Martínez, and Celia Alarid and grandson, Mario Ochoa.

Those left to cherish her memories include two daughters, Sylvia Ochoa and husband Gilbert of San Antonio, and Theresa Cruz and husband Mark of Amarillo; six grandchildren, Marisa Valdez of San Antonio, Danielle Gonzales and Dominic Díaz and wife Aline of Amarillo, Tomás Cruz and wife Kristen of Charlotte, North Carolina, and Dr. Andy Cruz and partner Alan of Boston, Massachusetts; nine great-grandchildren, nine great-great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends who loved her dearly.

Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, Amarillo, Texas.
