Gail DeWayne Quine, 87, of Amarillo passed away on Sunday, October 9, 2022.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 16, 2022 from 1pm to 3pm at Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia in Amarillo. The family will receive guests from 3pm to 5pm that afternoon. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, October 17, 2022 at 10am in the funeral home's Brentwood Chapel. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery.

On October 9th, 2022, Gail DeWayne Quine went to be with his maker. He was a beloved Husband, Father, and Grandfather. Gail was born March 31, 1935 in Cloud Chief, OK to Vernon and Edith Quine. He was a long-time resident of Amarillo where he met and married the Love of his life, Esther Rogge. They were married on December 2, 1955 in Lockney, TX. They spent 64 wonderful years together.

Gail was a U.S. Marine during the Korean War and later served with the Texas Army National Guard. Upon returning from Korea, he started working for the US Postal Service where he retired with 36 years of service. During his free time, he attended West Texas State University receiving a Bachelor of Science Degree. After His retirement, he went to work for Amarillo Globe News and was a Substitute Teacher for AISD. He and Esther also owned and operated their own business, Quine Janitorial Service.

Gail was a member of Buchanan St Methodist church and served in many different positions within the church including sponsoring the Youth Group. He loved life and especially kids. He touched many lives through his volunteer endeavors. He was a longtime coach for Kids Inc and the American Legion. He volunteered as a coach for all sports. The kids in the Avondale area believed he ran the park since he was there so much. In retirement, he was also a Reading Mentor with AISD.

Gail and Esther loved to travel. They attended many American Association of Suicidology Conventions all over the US. He always volunteered to assist and was usually the “go to” guy. They loved to go on Cruises, but the thing they loved the most was taking the 3 Grand kids on vacation and enjoying experiences with them, no matter the destination.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Vernon and Edith Quine, and his wife Esther Quine. Gail is survived by his Brother Coy Quine and wife Susan of Richardson, TX; a Daughter, Deborah Sutterfield and husband Tom of Amarillo, a son David Quine and wife Alicia of Lubbock; 3 Grandchildren, Tristan Sutterfield of Amarillo, Zackery Quine and Andrea of Taos, NM, and Reagan Van Alstein of Royse City, TX; 4 Great Grand Children and 1 Great Great Grandchild.

The Family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations to be made to Kids Inc of Amarillo or Operation Homefront.
