Gary Linn Bohr was born to Bill and Linda Bohr on his father’s birthday, July 8, 1963. He was called to be with his Lord on November 12, 2025, at the age of 62. He was a lifelong member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church.
A Rosary will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 16, 2025. Funeral Mass will be celebrated by Fr. Raj Malapady and Fr. Raj Samala at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, November 17, 2025, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Groom, Texas.
Gary’s greatest joy in life was his family. He loved nothing more than being surrounded by them, teasing and joking in the way only he could. He was especially devoted to his nieces, nephews, and his many grandnieces and grandnephews, all of whom he adored. Fun-loving and full of energy, Gary made friends wherever he went and carried their shared stories and adventures with him throughout his life. He treasured traveling with family and friends, playing golf with his son Colby—who proudly insists he has surpassed his dad’s skills—and relaxing with his favorite pastimes: cheering for the Dallas Cowboys and watching John Wayne movies and classic westerns.
A man of countless talents, Gary lived a life rich with hard work and curiosity. He worked on the family farm, at Circle B Meat Company, in pawn shops, sold scrap iron and insurance, and ran a hotshot business. He flipped houses, guided deep-sea fishing trips, appeared as an extra in the movie Leap of Faith, and even tried his hand at modeling. He also found great joy in scuba diving, embracing the thrill of exploring new depths. Fearless and determined, Gary never hesitated to try something new.
Gary was known for his trademark farewell, a phrase he picked up from his friend Tim: “Ever so much in your britches.” It became a lighthearted signature that his loved ones will always remember.
Gary is survived by his parents, Bill and Linda; his son, Colby Benites; and his granddaughter, Marilyn Trice. He is also survived by his brothers, Rodney and John (and wife Allison); his sisters, Donna Barnett and Karen Hollingsworth (and husband Robert); and his nieces and nephews: Blake Barnett (and wife Katy), Nichole Longbine (and husband Josh), Candace Britten (and husband Garrett), Taylor Fields (and wife Shelby), Trenton Fields (and friend Maggie), Hali Blair (and husband Kyle), Nicholas Bohr (and wife Brooklyn), Tyler Cox (and friend Graci), Lane Cox (and wife Shannon), and Ross and Ransom Hollingsworth. He leaves behind thirteen cherished grandnieces and grandnephews who brought tremendous joy to his life.
Gary will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who were blessed to know him.
