Augusta George “Bunny” Bell, 95, passed away peacefully on September 27, 2026, in Amarillo, Texas. He was born on August 12, 1931, in Curry County, New Mexico near Clovis. He was the second child born to Raymond Elois “Pete” Bell and Lillian Agnes “Dutch” Kos Bell.

A graveside memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 3, 2026, at 10:30 AM at Llano Cemetery, 2900 S. Hayes St. Amarillo, TX 79103 with Pastor Lennie McCay officiating.

George grew up working on a farm near Friona, TX, and then served his country in the Army during the Korean War. George returned to Clovis and married Darlyne Bombarger on July 29, 1956. Shortly afterward, the couple moved to Amarillo where George went to Barber School and he acquired his own barber shop on Washington Avenue in Amarillo.

George was an avid reader of Louis L’Amour and owned every one of his books! He enjoyed fishing and growing a big garden each year, eating the fruits of his labor. George also enjoyed raising birds of all kinds: chickens, cockatiels, parakeets, peacocks, and many more. Together George and Darlyne raised three sons, Donnie, Monte, and Mike. He and Darlyne were long-time members of Washington Avenue Christian Church where he served as a deacon. Darlyne preceded him in death on Jan. 5, 2002.

Later in life, George met his wife Ruthie Bell at a local Senior Citizen Dance where they ‘cut quite a rug’. George and Ruthie married on May 14, 2011, at Washington Avenue Christian Church in Amarillo. With his marriage to Ruthie, George gained even more beloved family of daughters, kids, and grandkids that meant the world to him.

Those whom George has joined on this journey are his first wife Glenda Darlyne Bombarger Bell; his son Michael Dean Bell; three brothers, Harold Francis (Buster) Bell, R.E. Bell, & Joseph DeLois Bell; two sisters, Louise Agnes (Tootise) Robichaux, Wilma Marie (Billie) Swindler, and Larry McCoy.

He is survived by his wife Ruthie Bell, sons Donnie (Kay) Bell of Waco, TX, and Monte (Shelley) Bell of Lewisville, TX, stepdaughters Debra (Jack) Lamb of Amarillo, TX, and Jana (Dene) Coble of Amarillo, TX; six grandchildren Bryson (Whitney) Bell of Lewisville, TX, David (Jenny) Bell of Boston, MA, Austin (Lauren) Bell of Decatur, TX, Daniel (Melanie) Bell of Missouri City, TX, Matthew Bell, and Krista Bell; and seven great-grandchildren Finley, Norah, Brock, Cade, Ellie Grace, Braden, and Jackson; one brother Raymond Lee (Jinnie) Bell of Wolfforth, TX; and one sister Lillie Irene (James) Baker of Alger, MI.
