Memorial service will be at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, October 13, 2022 at Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St.
George was born October 11, 1935 to Annie Mae and Otho Green in Post, Texas. The family finally settled in Austin, Texas where George attended MaCallum High School, graduating in 1954. He was the King of MaCallum High and played baseball traveling to many different locations to play in tournaments. His parents would surprise him, travelling by train, to see him play.
George attended the University of Texas in Austin, majoring in finance, continuing to play baseball, and was a member of Delta Tau Delta fraternity and the ROTC. He was commissioned into the U.S. Navy, stationed in Japan and Coronado, California, as a LTJG. He was a disbursement officer so he was very well liked when it came to pay day!
George was a manager for A.G. Edwards Financial Services in Amarillo for many years, until he decided to spend the rest of his life as an innovator developing his own commodity training program. Many highs and lows, but he loved every minute of it, pouring over paper charts before his work became computerized.
He is preceded in death by his first wife, Rosemary McMurtry Green in 2017, his parents and his brother, LaDell Green.
George is survived by his wife, Suzanne Schilling Green, his daughter, Polk Green and her partner, Annie Cotton, his daughter, Shannon Barnett and her husband, Kirk and two grandchildren, Currie Kelln and Will Barnett, niece, Sarah Hicks Faulkner and husband, David, nephews, Bob Hicks and wife, Debbie, Wiley Hicks, III and wife, Pam and James Hicks and wife Carol.
