George St. Clair, 85, of Amarillo died December 4, 2021.
Visitation will be from 5-7:30 p.m., Friday, December 10, 2021 at Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. Funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, December 11, 2021 at the funeral home. Entombment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
George was born June 21, 1936 in Bellefonte, PA to William and Nancy St. Clair. He graduated from Bellefonte High School then joined the United States Air Force. During 1954-1958, George was stationed at Goodfellow AFB in San Angelo where he met and married Norma Reed on December 20, 1957. After time spent in the military, they moved first to Pennsylvania, back to San Angelo and then to Amarillo for the last 60 years. He began managing Reed Stations also working at Bell Helicopter and Pantex but most of his career as an electrician was at Owens Corning. George volunteered with the Osage Fire Department for several years and co-owned, City of Amarillo Municipal Shooting Range. He enjoyed guns, knives, pocket watches and riding motorcycles. George loved to take pictures and was the “unofficial photographer” for his granddaughters, Julie and Janeth’s soccer teams.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
George is survived by his wife of 63 years, Norma Jean (Reed) St. Clair of Amarillo, TX; daughters, Carol Jean Brehm and husband, Randy of Amarillo, TX and Julie Marie Acosta and husband, Tony of Peyton, CO; son, William Edward St. Clair and wife, Deborah of Amarillo, TX; sister, Joan Elizabeth Hedges of Jersey Shore, PA; 9 grandchildren, Nathan, Julie, Janeth, Bradley, Cameron, Brenda, Brandon, John and Heidi; and 15 great-grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Pl., Memphis, TN 38105.
