Guadalupe was born on February 18, 1957, in Chihuahua City, Chihuahua, Mexico, to her parents, Horacio Grijalba-Ordonez and Urbana Chacon Hernandez. In 1975 she graduated from occupational school in Chihuahua, Mexico. She then went on to reclaim her mother’s lost US citizenship, which allowed her family to immigrate to the U.S. and live successful lives. In 1978 Guadalupe arrived in Amarillo. She worked various jobs once she got to Amarillo, waitressing, house cleaning, and aiding students at St. Andrews Episcopal School.
Life changed when Guadalupe discovered the love of Christ. Through faith, she fought and overcame stage 4 breast cancer in the early 90s; she married and was blessed with two children and five grandchildren. She was a faithful member of Trinity Fellowship Church. She enjoyed attending church and sharing the gospel. Guadalupe had a servant’s heart and the gift of prayer. She preached and volunteered at Bethesda Outreach and prayed for anyone in need, especially those who needed healing.
Some of her most cherished memories are her marriage to Fidel, the births of her children and grandchildren, and seeing them graduate and succeed in life. Her most significant life lessons come from Isaiah 53:4-5…. “By His stripes, we are healed”; John 3:16, “For God so loved the world he gave His only begotten Son so that whoever shall believe in him shall live” and Matthew 18:20, “For where two or three are gathered in my name, there I am in their midst.” Her favorite verse was Philippians 4:13 “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me,” Guadalupe lived by example. She loved God and her family fiercely.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and by her siblings, Jose, Maria, Bertha, and Ramon.
Guadalupe is survived by her husband, Fidel; her sons Ivan Guzman and Alberto Guzman, and Ivan’s wife, Merabel; her grandson, Zane Alaric; and her granddaughters, Eliana Adina, Elisabeth Christine, Elisia Adira, and Elina Ariela.
