Haskell Allen Dufur, 92, of Amarillo passed away December 13, 2022.
Visitation will be from 5:30-6:30 p.m., Thursday, December 15, 2022 at Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. Funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m., Friday, December 16, 2022 at the funeral home with Pastors Lance Harrington and Aaron Thorne officiating. Interment will be private.
Haskell was born October 6, 1930 in Caddo, OK to Sherman and Opal Dufur. The family moved to Friona where Haskell lived from the age of 11 to 17 until moving to Hereford his senior year in high school. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Air Force with a start date of February 23, 1950. He reported to Boston, MA at the New England Aircraft School where he repaired planes. He then went to Scott Air Force base where he was discharged. While there, he was a practice hind catcher for NY Yankees pitcher, Marlin Stuart. After being discharged, he returned to Hereford then moved to Amarillo where he went to work for International Harvesters. He worked for them for 3 years until they closed their doors. He also worked for Roberts Paper Company for 9 years, Gates Rubber Company for 17 years, then the City of Amarillo for 22 years until he retired. Haskell married Willa Jean Putman on October 27, 1955 at First Baptist Church in Amarillo.
He is preceded in death by his father, Sherman Dufur; mother, Opal Dufur; and brother, J.W. Dufur.
Haskell is survived by his wife, Willa Dufur; 3 daughters, Janet Thorne and her husband, Ronnie of Amarillo, Terri Vaughn and her husband, Darrell of Burleson, and daughter, Cheryl Ince of Amarillo; brothers, Billy Wayne Dufur and Willis Dufur; sister, Mary Johnson; four grandchildren, Aaron Thorne and his wife, Kerre, Lindsey McDivitt and her husband, James, Misty Ahmad and her husband, Shahrukh, and Emily Kidd and her husband, Chris; and nine great-grandchildren, Jackson Thorne, Axton Kidd, Avery McDivitt, Calvin Thorne, Alba Kidd, Sawyer McDivitt, Maizie Kidd, Ramina Ahmad, S.J. Ahmad.
The family suggests memorials be made to Harrington Cancer Center, 1500 Wallace Blvd, Amarillo, TX 79106.
