Mr. Bankhead was born on May 12, 1930 to R.O. and Arizona Bankhead. He graduated from Valley Mills High School in 1947.  He married Jean Schrader on May 21, 1949 in Valley Mills.  They moved to Amarillo in 1968 from Borger.  He worked for Canyon Drive Lumber for over 25 year.  He worked until 2008.  He had a passion for his trade and loved the people he worked with.
Herbert worked as a rock mason and was a skilled craftsman.  Before his health prevented him, one of his greatest joys was fishing.
He was loved by many and more importantly was the love he had for others.  He was an amazing, gifted man that will be deeply missed.
