Idell was born January 27, 1933 in Channing, Texas to her parents Elmer Gray and Ann Wright. She married and began her life’s work, raising her children and caring for her family. At the age of twenty-four she made a decision for Christ that would radically effect herself and change the projection of generations to come. Of course she could be described as a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend, but what she would want to be remembered for was her simple yet, poignant quote, “Just love Jesus!” Idell’s faith and devotion to Christ was the foundation and cornerstone of her family. She never wavered in her beliefs and could be described as a “walking bible.” She loved with all her heart and lived her life by example. Idell’s favorite place was with her family, she cherished time spent with them. She enjoyed sitting on the beach hearing the waves crash and being in awe of all of creation. Although she will be deeply missed, her family can hear her shouting “Hallelujah” at the feet of her Jesus and look forward to the time they are joined together with her again in eternity.
Our family would like to thank her significant other that loved and cared for her the last seven years.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Chuck Allen; a sister Lovell Beezley; two brothers, Haskell and Harold Gray; a daughter, Shirlene Stephens; and by a grandson, Jeff Acker.
She is survived by her three daughters, Darlene Terrel and her husband Ricky, Martha Shaltry and her husband Jon all of Amarillo, and Becky Acker of Florida; two sons, Bruce Allen of Amarillo and Bryan Allen and his wife Kara of Forest, Virginia; her grandchildren, Randall Stephens, Stephanie Sparks, Kristi Francis, Erick Terrel, Amy Edwards, Daniel Shaltry, Tyler Shaltry, , Logan Young, Nathan Keenum, Brenna Ferraiuolo, Brady Ferraiuolo and Luke Ferraiuolo; eighteen great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.
