Imogene (Jean) Collins Polizzi, 98, of Carmel, IN passed away peacefully on January 5, 2026.
Jean was born on August 8, 1927 to Tom and Olinda Collins in Claude, TX. Although she lived for 98 wonderful years, we’ve been putting “58” candles on her birthday cake for 40 years. Let’s just say she preferred to live life with a “forever 58” mindset.
If you knew Jean, or Gigi as her grandchildren called her, you knew she had a unique sense of humor and was remembered for her jokes and sarcasm. Her sense of humor even managed to go viral on TikTok in 2021 with over 6 million views. This was proof that she could make the entire world laugh.
Jean was a graduate of Texas Tech University. She then went on to serve as an Airline Stewardess for Continental Airlines for 5 years. Her most proud accomplishment in life was being the mother of her only child, Steven Collins Polizzi. Her favorite hobbies were playing bridge and euchre, dancing, watching football and golf, and spending time with her family and friends.
Jean is survived by her son Steve (Dana) Polizzi, three grandchildren Avery Preuss (Matthew), Morgan Polizzi (Shayna), Jack Polizzi, and her great-granddaughter, Nora Collins Preuss, whose middle name pays tribute to her great-grandmother. She is preceded in death by her beloved parents.
Jean will be laid to rest at Claude Cemetery in Claude, TX alongside her mother and father and many lifelong friends.
Her mantra in life was to have fun, live life, and “shake, rattle, and roll.” In honor of Jean’s memory, we ask that you take a moment to do one of her favorite things today: make someone laugh, dance, or play cards.
