Ira Gaylon Selman, 77, of Amarillo, Texas passed away on November 3, 2023. He was born on November 14, 1945, in Clovis New Mexico to the late Ira William Selman and Bertha Stewart Selman.

The family will receive guests at Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., on Tuesday, November 7, 2023. Funeral Services will be held at Bolton St. Baptist Church, 2555 S. Bolton St., at 2 p.m., with Pastor Danny Lucas presiding. Burial will follow at Llano Cemetery East Field of Honor with Honor Guard presentation by Potter County Sheriff's Office.

Ira was a Christian man of great faith and principles, devoted to his Christian beliefs. He built his life and family on his strong religious foundation. He was a 32nd degree Mason , Shriner and a member of Bolton Street Baptist Church.

Ira Graduated Clovis High School in Clovis New Mexico in 1963. Later furthering his education at Amarillo College and the Potter County Law Enforcement Academy where he graduated as valedictorian of his class.

In his career, Ira had a diverse range of experiences. An original Cowboy on both his Grandads ranch in Clovis New Mexico and the XL Ranch. He later managed Gebo’s Farm and Ranch Supply from 1967 to 1980 later transferring to Amarillo Texas.  Ira was a deputy for Potter County Sheriff’s Office where he served in the warrants office and was later deputized by the United States Marshal Service earning his United States Marshall status and worked with the special task force and international extraditions. Ira retired from Potter County Sheriff’s department in 2017 as a Master Peace officer.

Outside his professional life, Ira had a passion for Family and sports. He coached many young men in little league baseball, and an avid football fan. He found his greatest pleasures with his wife supporting and participating in the numerous activities of his beloved children and grandchildren.

Ira married the love of his life, Lucille Halsell Selman on August 15, 1963, at the First Baptist Church in Farwell, Texas celebrating 60 years of marriage in 2023.

Ira is survived by his loving wife, Lucille Selman and their children Lodena Moreau and fiancé Marlon Mulkey, Pam and her husband Jay Lane, Gaylon and his wife Jackie Selman, James Justin and his wife Tanya Selman and his favorite Dog Boone Selman.

Their many grandchildren: Wesley Johnson and his wife Andrea, Ryan Johnson and wife Jessica, Carrie Brittian, Lauren Mellinger and her husband Brock, Tracie Selman, Skylar Lane, Lacye Selman, Leighson Selman, Langstyn Selman.  Great grandchildren Courtney, Michael his wife Audrey, Crystal, Atticus, Carly, Chance, Ryleigh, and Lilibeth, Stefan, Brendon, Harper and Kalini. Great Great grandchildren Daveon and Kaden.
