Jesse H Baker

Jesse was born February 18, 1934 to Walter Chauncey and Mabel Murray Baker in Hartley County, Texas. He was a proud graduate of Texas Tech and received his Master’s Degree in education from WTA&M. He entered the US Army, but did not see combat. He met JoAnn Skalsky and they married January 12, 1957. He taught 38 years in public schools and 9 years in private school. Jesse and JoAnn are members of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Groom. He was also a member of Knights of Columbus.
Jesse was preceded in death by his sons, Walter Douglas Baker and Jesse Keith Baker, his brother Albert Leon “Tom” Baker and by his parents.
He is survived by his wife, JoAnn of Groom; three daughters, Karen Story and husband Ed, Donna Pyle and husband Doug and Jackie Whitehead and husband Phillip, all of White Deer; two sons, Brian Baker and Craig Baker, both of Groom; two sisters, Margie Williams of Pampa and Freida Byram of Amarillo; one brother, Charley Baker of Dalhart, seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
