Jimmie Lee Williamson Foster, 96, of Amarillo died March 22, 2021.

Memorial service will be at 3:00 p.m., Thursday, March 25, 2021 at First Baptist Church, 1208 S. Tyler. Interment will be private. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home.

Jimmie was born July 11, 1924 in Amarillo to Lee James and Mae Ogle Williamson. She graduated from Amarillo High School in 1941 and attended Amarillo College and West Texas State University (currently West Texas A&M University).

Jimmie married Raymond Foster in 1945. They were married 62 years before his passing in 2008. As a couple, they loved dancing, bridge and cruising. They saw many parts of the world; from Vladivostok, Russia to Istanbul, Turkey and many points in between.

Jimmie was active in many organizations as a member, officer or board member. Included were Amarillo Symphony Guild, Amarillo Museum of Art, Lone Star Ballet, Amarillo Republican Women, Art Force, Amarillo Opera and Amarillo Little Theatre.

In 1990, Jimmie originated the Art Force cooking classes and served as chairman the first three years. This required securing cooks to teach the classes and homes for the demonstrations. She was a 73 year member (in 2020) of Beta Sigma Phi. She also was a member of numerous Bridge and Dance clubs. Jimmie was a member of the Amarillo Club for over 50 years and enjoyed ballroom dancing there until her death.

Jimmie began her working career at age 16 at Western Union during World War II. She retired at age 70 from First National Bank of Amarillo. Both Jimmie and Raymond were natives of Amarillo. The Fosters were long-time member of First Baptist Church where the two met. Jimmie as an infant, was on the Cradle Roll and was a member until her death.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Raymond Foster; brother, Robert T. Williamson; and her parents.

Jimmie is survived by son, William R. (Bill) Foster and wife, Mary.
