Jimmy "Jim" Lin McMahan, 81, of Amarillo, passed away on March 2, 2026.
The family will receive guests on Friday, March 6, 2026, from 5 pm to 7 pm, at Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at 10 am in the funeral home's Brentwood Chapel with Reverend Greg Corona of Hillside Christian Church West Campus presiding. Burial will follow in Llano Cemetery.
Jim was born on March 30, 1944, in Houston, Texas to Gilbert and Virgie (Lawrence) McMahan. He graduated from Reagan High School and would go on to enlist and proudly serve in the United States Navy aboard the USS Constellation. Following his discharge from his service, he took on a job with AT&T that would become his career while also obtaining an Associates Degree from Amarillo College. He served everywhere within the company from a Lineman to an Estimate Assigner and everything in between. He enjoyed reading and would go through several books at a time.
Jim is preceded in death by his parents. Those left to cherish his memories are his daughter, Terri Wright and husband Terry, son, Troy McMahan and wife Kristin, grandchildren, Kristen Otis and husband Butler, Shelby Gockel and husband Christian, and Ashley Clark and husband Jackson, as well as his great-grandchildren Quint, Jenson, and Hattie Jo.
In Lieu of flowers, the family suggests that a donation be made to the Paralyzed Veterans of America, P.O. Box 758539 Topeka, KS 66675, or at Paralyzed Veterans of America in honor of Jimmy “Jim” Lin McMahan.
